Quantron China develops platform for emission-free commercial vehicles

Quantron China is based in Shaoxing, China. Quantron is to contribute its German engineering expertise, industrial quality standards, and international market experience, while HyperView brings its expertise in autonomous driving and intelligent vehicle technologies. Additionally, the partners hope to gain scaling and cost advantages from the Chinese industrial ecosystem.

Gen2 platform for commercial vehicles to become the basis for scaling

The joint venture aims to develop the Quantron Gen2 commercial vehicle platform for battery-electric and hydrogen-powered trucks and buses. This is to integrate a new cabin generation, advanced aerodynamics, intelligent connectivity, digital fleet functions, and the technological basis for future autonomous driving functions. The first public presentation of a Gen2 vehicle is planned for the first half of 2027.

The Taiwanese manufacturing giant Foxconn, primarily known from the electronics industry, acts as an industrial manufacturing partner for the joint venture's truck and bus platforms. Thus, Quantron China aims to combine German engineering and industrial quality requirements with scalable international SKD manufacturing, an industrialized supply chain, and competitive production costs.

The new vehicle platform is intended to address the Chinese home market and serve as a technological and industrial basis for the international expansion of Quantron's offerings. "The future of the commercial vehicle industry will not be determined by individual vehicles alone, but by scalable platforms, strong industrial partnerships, and integrated customer solutions," said Andreas Haller, CEO of the Haller Group and founder of Quantron. "With Quantron China, we are building a bridge between China, Europe, and the Middle East. We are building in China for China and using the same platform to scale internationally. Our goal is to make emission-free commercial vehicle mobility faster, more economical, and more scalable worldwide."

The partners aim to build an ecosystem that can produce more than 100,000 emission-free commercial vehicles worldwide over the next ten years.

100 vehicles for Europe by the end of 2026 as a starting point for development

HyperView has already delivered a high three-digit number of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, primarily in China. The first vehicles are also already in use in Saudi Arabia. According to its own statements, Quantron has brought a three-digit number of emission-free vehicles and systems to market and has customer operations and projects in Europe and the Middle East. Most recently, another hydrogen-powered Quantron vehicle was delivered in Brazil together with a local partner. These experiences from real vehicle use are now directly flowing into the next generation of the platform.

Even before Gen2, the partners plan to put the first 100 vehicles into operation with European customers by the end of 2026. These vehicles are to serve as a technological bridge and validation fleet for Gen2 under real operating conditions. Operational data, customer feedback, energy consumption, availability, and insights into performance are to flow directly into the final development and validation of the new platform.

The average emissions of new heavy commercial vehicles in the EU must decrease by 45 percent from the respective reference values from 2030, by 65 percent from 2035, and by 90 percent from 2040. Given the hundreds of thousands of heavy commercial vehicles entering the European market annually, this is a large market for battery and hydrogen drives.

Quantron-as-a-Service: All-inclusive offer for emission-free vehicles

A central pillar of the platform is "Quantron-as-a-Service (QaaS)." Instead of buying a vehicle, one purchases a mobility service including financing, service, maintenance, an availability guarantee, digital fleet management, and—depending on the market and application—energy solutions. This is intended to remove the initial investment hurdle for customers and make operating costs predictable. Quantron aims to guarantee that the Total Cost of Ownership of its QaaS offer is lower from day one than that of a comparable diesel vehicle. Fleet operators are thus to receive economic planning security while significantly reducing the CO₂ emissions of their fleet.

In turn, Quantron secures a business that extends far beyond the one-time sale of a vehicle.
