Walther-Präzision unveils new 700 bar refuelling nozzle

According to the company, which is based in Haan, the nozzle has been developed for use in heavy-duty transport. It is aimed at operators of commercial vehicles, buses and other large hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Higher flow rates to shorten refuelling times

The manufacturer says the nozzle combines high flow rates with safe handling. Higher throughput can shorten refuelling times at hydrogen filling stations, according to the company. At its core is a high-pressure coupling mechanism designed for repeated use in commercial operation under demanding conditions.

The nozzle is also prepared for an infrared communication interface at the vehicle connection. This interface is intended to enable the exchange of refuelling data between the vehicle and the dispenser, supporting a controlled refuelling process.

Part of a wider hydrogen portfolio

The new refuelling nozzle forms part of a broader hydrogen portfolio from Walther-Präzision. According to the company, it can be integrated into complete refuelling systems. These include hose assemblies, emergency breakaway couplings and customised parking stations with an integrated purging function. The latter support operation at low temperatures and are designed to prevent icing. The systems are rated down to -40 degrees Celsius and have been developed and verified on the basis of the ISO 17268-2 standard.

With the product, Walther-Präzision says it is responding to rising demands on hydrogen refuelling in heavy-duty transport. Connection systems must safely handle high pressures and reliably transfer large volumes of hydrogen, even at extreme media temperatures, the company states.
