EU Allocates Nearly Six Billion Euros for Hydrogen Projects

With the third auction of the European Hydrogen Bank and the Innovation Fund 2025, the EU is allocating up to six billion euros for hydrogen projects. Germany and Spain are contributing additional national funds.

Möhring Energie plans 1 GW hydrogen project in Mauritania

Mauritania has signed a framework agreement with Möhring Energie for the development of a PtX large-scale project. Starting in 2029, the plant is expected to produce up to 140,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually for export.

Luxcara and Hamburger Energiewerke start construction of 100 MW electrolyser in Hamburg

In Hamburg-Moorburg, the construction of a 100 MW electrolyser has begun. The Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub project is expected to deliver around 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually from 2027. The operators are Luxcara and Hamburger Energiewerke.

EWE starts construction of 320 MW electrolyser in Emden

EWE has begun construction of a 320-megawatt hydrogen plant in Emden. The plant is part of the "Clean Hydrogen Coastline" project and is expected to supply green hydrogen to industrial customers from the end of 2027.

In the KISSSEs project, Fraunhofer ILT, iGas energy, and dLS LichtSchneiderei are working on laser-based manufacturing processes for PEM electrolysers. The goal is to replace precious metals with conductive titanium expanded metal and thus reduce production costs.

German-Scottish alliance for hydrogen from the North Sea

AquaVentus and Hydrogen Scotland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The aim is to jointly expand hydrogen production and transport in the North Sea region. A position paper outlines specific infrastructure potentials.

In order to make climate-neutral hydrogen available across all sectors in the future, appropriate regulations are urgently needed.

PGS plans to purchase 1.4 GW electrolyzer from Thyssenkrupp Nucera

The Australian project developer Progressive Green Solutions (PGS) has selected Thyssenkrupp Nucera as its preferred supplier of electrolyzers with a total capacity of 1.4 GW. The technology is intended to supply green hydrogen for a large-scale project to produce green iron.
