Hycamite operates a methane splitting plant at its headquarters in Kokkola on an industrial scale. The technology splits methane into hydrogen and solid carbon without producing CO₂ emissions, according to the company. In addition to low-carbon hydrogen, the company produces solid carbon materials, including battery-grade graphite.
The Finnish cleantech company has now restructured its leadership team. Jukka Nieminen has taken over as Chairman of the Board. Matti Malkamäki, previously Chairman, moves to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Laura Rahikka, formerly CEO, becomes Chief Operating Officer (COO). With the new setup, Hycamite aims to support the expansion of its business activities, according to its own statements.
Weather-independent hydrogen production
“The next step is to expand the plant and increase the production of high-quality, optimized carbon products, including battery-grade graphite,” says Rahikka. Malkamäki adds: “Our solution enables weather-independent hydrogen production as well as local manufacturing of critical materials like graphite.”
Hycamite aims to intensify collaboration with customers and partners and further develop its business model for international expansion.
Nieminen brings international experience in industry, energy, and technology, according to the company. “I am impressed by the potential of Hycamite's proprietary technology to solve some of the biggest challenges in decarbonization worldwide,” says Nieminen.
He points to the decarbonization plant built in Kokkola and announces plans to accompany the company in its commercial development in Europe and global markets – for example, in the areas of energy generation, steel, chemicals, and batteries.
