The US company Verde Hydrogen has received an order from China Coal Energy Group to supply equipment for the first phase of an off-grid green hydrogen production project. According to Verde Hydrogen, it is a flagship project for off-grid hydrogen production in China’s heavy industry. The company says that leading Chinese electrolyser manufacturers participated in the public tender. Verde Hydrogen also says that its Chinese subsidiary prevailed thanks to a technical proposal based on its electrolysis core technology, plant performance, and system design.
The contract includes four alkaline electrolysers, each with a hydrogen production capacity of 1,200 Nm³/h. It also includes an integrated gas-liquid separation and hydrogen purification system with a total capacity of 4,800 Nm³/h. Verde Hydrogen describes it as a “4-in-1 system”. The plant will be operated exclusively with electricity from directly coupled renewable energy sources and will supply high-purity hydrogen for the decarbonisation of heavy industrial processes.
