Atawey to deliver three hydrogen refuelling stations for heavy-duty transport to Belgium

Atawey has sold three hydrogen refuelling stations to Colruyt Group and Virya Energy. The stations are intended for heavy-duty transport in Belgium. According to the company, the order has a volume in the multi-million euro range and resulted from a tender process.

Combined daily hydrogen refuelling capacity of more than 7 tonnesTogether, the three stations are expected to reach a distribution capacity of more than 7 tonnes of hydrogen per day. They are based on a modular and standardised architecture. Atawey plans to install the stations in Belgium by the end of 2027. In addition, the company will provide maintenance services to ensure high availability of the systems. The order follows the commissioning of a first Atawey station in Italy.

A step towards series production of hydrogen refuelling stationsAtawey regards the order as a step towards series production. According to the company, it relies on optimised production processes and a structured supply chain to safeguard costs and delivery times. "This project is excellent news for hydrogen mobility in heavy-duty transport in Europe: it confirms the relevance of hydrogen in the decarbonisation of transport. It is also the concrete implementation of our international expansion strategy initiated several months ago," says Jean-Michel Amaré, President and co-founder of Atawey.

Atawey employs more than 100 people and, according to the company, has installed over 50 stations to date, 39 of which are for road transport. Since September 2025, the company has distributed 40 tonnes of hydrogen through its stations. Production takes place at a site in France. For 2026, Atawey aims to expand its presence in Europe and position itself as a full-service provider for hydrogen mobility in heavy-duty transport.
