The French company Lhyfe has been supplying hydrogen since November 2025 to France’s first highway filling station that is also accessible to heavy-duty vehicles. The operator of the station is TEAL Mobility. It is located on the A4 in the Grand Est region, a strategically important east-west axis connecting France with Germany and the Benelux countries.
Supply is based on a multi-year contract. For this purpose, Lhyfe uses a fleet of 70 type IV containers, which, according to the company, are among the most advanced in Europe. The station in Reims Champagne Nord is intended in particular to supply cross-border freight transport with hydrogen.
RFNBO H2 for heavy-duty transport between France and Germany
Lhyfe currently operates four production sites for renewable hydrogen in France and Germany with a total installed capacity of 21 megawatts. For 2026, the company plans to increase capacity by 70 percent.
In May 2025, according to its own statements, Lhyfe was the first French company to deliver hydrogen with RFNBO certification (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin). By September 2025, all four sites had received this certification. Thus, Lhyfe considers itself a leading European supplier of RFNBO-compliant hydrogen from electrolysis.
Hydrogen mobility highly developed
Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe, states: "Through this agreement with TEAL Mobility, we are now the leading operator of hydrogen filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles in Europe. This is a strong signal for the growth of green hydrogen in mobility and for the robustness of our model."
According to Guesné, the station in Reims is particularly important for emission-free freight transport in Europe. It opens a new connection between Paris and the northeastern neighboring countries, where hydrogen mobility is already highly developed.
