Statcon Energiaa aims to expand India’s H2 rectifier market with new majority shareholder

The Indian power electronics manufacturer Statcon Energiaa is now majority-owned by Rotomag Enertec. The two companies announced this in a joint statement. The aim of the investment is to accelerate the development and marketing of solutions for renewable energies – including in the field of green hydrogen.

According to its own information, Statcon Energiaa was one of the first Indian manufacturers to fully develop and commercialize grid-connected solar inverters in-house. In the hydrogen sector, Statcon Energiaa develops and manufactures rectifiers for electrolysers. Initial units are already in operation. Other sectors in which Statcon Energiaa is active include defense and railways.

As part of the investment, both companies announced their intention to significantly expand their activities in the field of rectifiers for green hydrogen applications in India. To this end, an agreement was signed with the German company AEG Power Solutions, which is to supply components. The goal is to achieve a significant market share in megawatt-class hydrogen rectifiers in India.

“Our collaboration combines complementary strengths in renewable energy and power electronics,” said Umesh Balani, Managing Director of Rotomag Enertec, and Manoj Pande, Managing Director of Statcon Energiaa.

Rotomag Enertec operates in India as a provider of industrial drive solutions and solar products. According to the company, it has installed solar pump systems in 16 federal states and has a two-tier partner network with 11 project partners and 346 installation partners.

Further aspects of the partnership relate to the solar business. These include the development of megawatt-scale battery storage systems and joint research on lithium-ion-based energy systems. In addition, the new majority shareholder aims to expand the business internationally, focusing on Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
