Stargate Hydrogen reported the first hydrogen production with its Gateway-200 electrolyser in the Kalla project of the Finnish energy company Fortum on December 18, 2025. The Kalla site is an energy and infrastructure complex developed by Fortum in Finland, where hydrogen technology is being tested, among other things. The facility, with a capacity of 1 megawatt (MW), is currently in the commissioning phase. The successful start of production is considered an important milestone in the project progress.
The system is based on a ceramic electrolysis technology that Stargate Hydrogen has developed for the production of green hydrogen. The company sees the project as a contribution to Finland's development into a European hydrogen hub. According to the company, each site that goes into operation strengthens local expertise, supply chains, and confidence in hydrogen technologies.
Following the achievement of the first hydrogen production, further tests and operational activities are to follow according to the project plan.
Stargate Hydrogen is a European technology company specializing in ceramic electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen. Fortum is a Nordic energy company and is one of the major CO2-free energy producers in Europe.
