Fraunhofer ISE is presenting its production research for membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) at Hannover Messe. New is a pilot facility for MEA production. According to the institute, it is intended to facilitate the transfer of laboratory processes to industrial production for component manufacturers as well as machinery and plant engineering companies. The platform encompasses the slot-die coating process as well as rotary and indirect gravure printing. According to the institute, this will also enable structured MEA using new production processes in the future.
As background, Fraunhofer ISE points to its own production facilities for MEA at industrial scale. According to the institute, these also include microstructure analysis and the characterization of the assemblies on the test bench.
A second focus area is systems analysis for the hydrogen ramp-up. The institute investigates sustainable power-to-X systems and international hydrogen supply chains from a technical, economic, and environmental perspective. It also identifies suitable locations and develops solutions for production, storage, and transport.
Fraunhofer ISE can be found in Hall 11 at Stand E11.
