The hy-fcell 2025 will be held at the Stuttgart trade fair grounds on October 7 and 8 this year. The focus will be on technological developments and applications in the field of hydrogen mobility. The event is aimed at experts from industry, research and politics. Particular emphasis will be placed on solutions for heavy-duty transport, construction machinery and aviation.
Daimler Truck has announced that it will present a next-generation prototype of its fuel cell truck, the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, at the trade fair. “Our development teams are working at full speed on the further development of our fuel cell truck for long-haul transport. Starting at the end of 2026, we will begin delivering one hundred vehicles, which will then go into customer operation,” says Manfred Schuckert, Head of Regulatory Strategy & International Hydrogen Strategy at Daimler Truck. According to the company, the project is being funded by the federal government of Germany, the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg and the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The joint venture Cellcentric, a collaboration between Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group, will also be represented at the trade fair. The focus will be on the new “NextGen” fuel cell system for heavy-duty and long-haul applications. Cellcentric emphasizes that the system is intended to set a new benchmark in total cost of ownership (TCO). “In addition, policymakers and industry are coming together to further advance the urgently needed H2 ecosystem,” says Andrea Engelen, Head of Global External Affairs and Government Relations at Cellcentric.
Another topic at the trade fair is the infrastructure for hydrogen mobility. At the end of May, a new hydrogen refueling station was commissioned in Düsseldorf, which, according to the organizers, is currently the most powerful in Europe. It can refuel up to three vehicles simultaneously with renewable hydrogen. The station uses patented high-performance technology and is considered a model for future refueling station concepts.
Conference with focus on aviation and infrastructure
A specialist conference will be held alongside the trade fair, and participation is included in the trade fair ticket. On the so-called Mobility Stage, topics such as heavy-duty applications, aviation solutions and infrastructure development will be discussed. Announced speakers include Isabell Gradert (Airbus), Josef Kallo (H2Fly), Marco Warth (Mahle) and Matthias Ziebell (Bosch).
hy-fcell Award endowed with €30,000
Companies and research institutions can apply for the hy-fcell Award until July 15, 2025. The award is endowed with a total of €30,000 and will be presented in the categories Research & Development, Products & Markets and Start-up. The aim is to recognize outstanding projects in the field of hydrogen and fuel cell technology. In addition to financial support, the award winners will also gain visibility at the trade fair and access to potential investors.
The hy-fcell has been held since 2001 and, according to the organizers, is one of the leading international trade fairs for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
