Ineratec works on Power-to-Liquids plant in Chile

Ineratec has started a collaboration with the Chilean consortium consisting of Arauco, Abastible, Copec, and its corporate venture capital arm Copec Wind Ventures. Together, the partners are examining the feasibility of an e-fuel value chain in the Chilean Biobío region. Ineratec acts as a potential technology supplier and has submitted a basic engineering study.

Biogenic CO2 from forestry industry

The planned PtL plant is to be built at the Arauco industrial complex. The location is one of the largest forestry centers in Latin America. The concept involves combining biogenic CO2 from Arauco operations with green hydrogen from Abastible. Ineratec contributes its expertise for the two-stage process of syngas formation and fuel synthesis. Copec provides know-how in fuel logistics.

“The studies at the Biobío site are an important step in showing how local industrial CO2 sources could be combined with hydrogen,” says Tim Böltken, co-founder and CEO of Ineratec.

Support from Chilean government

The costs for the basic engineering were fully covered by a grant from the Chilean government agency Corfo. The collaboration between Ineratec and the Chilean partners has existed since the Energy Challenge 2023. A feasibility study under the H2Uppp program identified suitable locations. Copec Wind Ventures has also strategically invested in Ineratec.
