The plant is being built on the site of the former Moorburg coal-fired power station. The entities behind HGHH are Hamburger Energiewerke and the asset manager Luxcara. The aim of the project is to produce around 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, thereby contributing to the decarbonisation of industry and the Port of Hamburg.
Electrolyser from Siemens Energy
The contract includes all auxiliary and supply systems required for the operation of the electrolyser. Kraftanlagen's scope of services includes, among other things, power distribution, water treatment, cooling and compressor stations, as well as the connection to the hydrogen network HH-WIN. In addition, a truck loading station is being constructed so that the hydrogen can also be transported by road.
Preparatory work for soil stabilisation on the 16,000 square metre site already began in June 2024. After completion of the building complex, work on the infrastructure is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2026. According to HGHH, commissioning is planned for the second half of 2027. The electrolyser itself is supplied by Siemens Energy. The technical infrastructure provided by Kraftanlagen forms the basis for its integration and subsequent operation.
