Industry associations and energy sector organizations are calling for the swift implementation of hybrid connection concepts for offshore wind farms. According to the “Wasserstoffachter” initiative, failing to integrate hybrid connection solutions for both electricity and hydrogen could lead to legal uncertainties and follow-on costs in the billions.
A joint application for EU funding shall help more than 50 partners to develop the Rhein-Ruhr region into Europe’s leading hydrogen region. The consortium plans, among other things, 77 MW of electrolysis capacity and the expansion of hydrogen infrastructure for commercial vehicles.
Asahi Kasei, Nobian, Furuya Metal, and Mastermelt have launched a joint project to recycle metals from electrolyzer components. The initiative aims to establish a closed-loop system for critical raw materials such as iridium and ruthenium.
