Sunfire and Nordic Ren-Gas agree on long-term partnership for e-methane projects

The Finnish e-methane developer Nordic Ren-Gas and the Dresden-based electrolysis manufacturer Sunfire have entered into a long-term partnership. Sunfire will thus become the preferred technology partner for Ren-Gas's hydrogen and e-methane projects.

Manufacturer Sunfire unveiled its new alkaline electrolysis system HyLink Alkaline 23 at the World Hydrogen Summit 2026 in Rotterdam. According to the company, the 50 MW system is designed for large-scale projects and the next phase of industrial market ramp-up.

Sunfire, an electrolyzer manufacturer based in Dresden, Germany, has unveiled a new 50 MW pressurized alkaline electrolysis module. According to the company, the outdoor-capable Hylink Alkaline 23 system is designed to reduce the total installed costs of large-scale hydrogen projects by up to 50 percent.

Two 100 MW plants are to supply green hydrogen for Repsol refineries in Cartagena and Muskiz from 2029. Sunfire relies on its pressurised alkaline technology.

Sunfire delivers 20 MW electrolyser for Finnish hydrogen project

In Harjavalta, Finland, the first industrial plant for the production of green hydrogen has been commissioned. It was built by the company P2X Solutions. The electrolyser comes from the Dresden-based manufacturer Sunfire and has a capacity of 20 megawatts.

The high-temperature electrolysis system has been integrated into the processes of the Neste refinery in Rotterdam.

At the Neste refinery in Rotterdam, the world’s largest high-temperature electrolyzer (SOEC) has been commissioned in an industrial environment. The 2.6 MW system was supplied by Dresden-based manufacturer Sunfire and is part of the EU-funded MultiPLHY project.
