Operators from Germany and the UK plan hydrogen pipeline through the North Sea

The transmission system operators Gascade Gastransport from Germany and National Gas from the United Kingdom have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of an offshore hydrogen pipeline between the two countries. The planned hydrogen corridor will run through the North Sea and aims to contribute to energy supply security and decarbonisation in Europe.

The regional energy supplier badenova has begun construction of a hydrogen pipeline in the Upper Rhine region. Through its subsidiary badenovaNetze, the Badenova group is among the first companies to actively contribute to the development of Germany's national hydrogen core network.

Intercontinental Energy, a global developer of large-scale green hydrogen projects, has unveiled a patented system called P2(H2)Node. Developed in Australia, the technology aims to reduce the production costs of green hydrogen by 10 to 20 percent, thereby accelerating the widespread adoption of this energy carrier.

Industry associations and energy sector organizations are calling for the swift implementation of hybrid connection concepts for offshore wind farms. According to the “Wasserstoffachter” initiative, failing to integrate hybrid connection solutions for both electricity and hydrogen could lead to legal uncertainties and follow-on costs in the billions.

Shift in H2 Mobility: 350-bar fueling surpasses 700-bar for the first time

Hydrogen sales at H2 Mobility show a clear shift: In March 2025, more than 50 percent of hydrogen was dispensed at 350 bar for utility vehicles for the first time. At the same time, total volume increased by ten percent compared to the same month the previous year.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is participating in an international partnership to develop the world’s first import corridor for liquid hydrogen. On April 15, 2025, during the state visit of the Sultan of Oman to the Netherlands, a corresponding development agreement was signed.
