The project, worth an estimated USD 9.4 billion, will produce 300,000 tons of green hydrogen per year and will see the installation of 3 gigawatts of electrolyzer capacity and 5 gigawatts of wind and photovoltaic generating capacity by the end of the decade. Hyphen is a joint venture between Nicholas Holdings and Enertrag South Africa, a subsidiary of German company Enertrag. This initiative is part of the H2Global program (see H2-international, October 2021).
