Friedrich Vorwerk integrates Meter-Q into Gas Technology division

The Friedrich Vorwerk Group has acquired the insolvent analysis and measurement specialist Meter-Q Solutions. As of August 1, 2026, the Friedberg operation will move under a new umbrella with all jobs secured.

The project is being developed on the site of the future Training and Further Education Centre for Climate-Neutral and Digital Mobility (AWM) at Peterheide.

RVK starts construction of electrolyser and hydrogen filling station

Regionalverkehr Köln (RVK) has begun construction of a hydrogen filling station with an electrolyser in Mechernich. The facility is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2026 and will produce 36 kilograms of green hydrogen per hour. The Federal Ministry of Transport is funding the project with around 15 million euros.

Contracts for Difference to Close Cost Gap in Hydrogen

The industry association BDEW is calling on the German government to establish Contracts for Difference as a central instrument for scaling up hydrogen. This requires a dedicated budget item in the Climate and Transformation Fund 2027.

Hydrogen Europe has a new Chair. The association's Board elected Miguel López, CEO of thyssenkrupp, to lead the industry group. His mandate runs until June 2029. He succeeds Sebastian Boden of Air Liquide.

A leadership change is taking place at the Norwegian hydrogen company Vireon: Vegard Frihammer will take over as CEO on September 1, 2026. He succeeds company founder Per Øyvind Voie, who is leaving the company to pursue a role outside the hydrogen industry.
