Eight industrial companies aim to accelerate the ramp-up of hydrogen-powered trucks in Europe. At the IAA Transportation, the companies Bosch, Daimler Truck, Volvo, Toyota, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, and MB Energy presented their joint plans.

H2 Mobility has launched a hydrogen filling station at the Hannover Airport service area in Langenhagen into trial operation. It supplies trucks, buses, and cars with RFNBO-compliant green hydrogen. The Federal Ministry of Transport funded the project with up to 5.83 million euros.

Fraunhofer IFAM has further developed dynamic impedance spectroscopy to analyze the condition of electrolyzers and fuel cells during operation. This allows for early detection of weaknesses and better maintenance planning.

The Swiss cleantech company Synhelion plans to establish a commercial large-scale plant for synthetic fuels in the southern Moroccan province of Tan-Tan. The planned capacity is 100,000 tonnes per year. A corresponding memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan government has been signed.

Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) and Repsol have completed a pilot of P2H2's anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzer at Repsol's All4Zero innovation hub. According to the companies, the technology exceeded durability and efficiency targets and projects a system lifetime of more than 50,000 hours.

The eFuel Alliance has presented a position paper that classifies electricity-based fuels as a security-relevant factor for Europe. The association calls for practical production rules, binding sub-quotas, and the crediting of investments towards the NATO spending target.

The planned amendment to the Wind Energy at Sea Act opens the way for combined electricity and hydrogen production at sea for the first time. The AquaVentus initiative welcomes the draft bill but criticizes the restriction to individual areas. According to the initiative's calculations, double-digit billions could be saved.

Air Products has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with RWE. RWE will supply up to 75 GWh of wind and solar power annually for the hydrogen facilities in Rotterdam. This will also supply the hydrogen liquefaction plant under construction.

ABO Energy and the Finnish city of Oulu have signed a cooperation agreement to develop a green hydrogen facility. According to ABO Energy, the electrolysis capacity could be expanded in several phases to up to 600 MW.

Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK) has received funding approvals totaling 29.5 million euros for its Green Mobility Depot in Bergisch Gladbach. The project includes a hydrogen refueling station with its own electrolyser. The hydrogen unit is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

The municipality of Bosbüll in North Frisia is expanding its district heating network. In the future, process heat from local hydrogen production will also be fed into the system. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2025.

The Finnish e-methane developer Nordic Ren-Gas and the Dresden-based electrolysis manufacturer Sunfire have entered into a long-term partnership. Sunfire will thus become the preferred technology partner for Ren-Gas's hydrogen and e-methane projects.

The Stadtwerke Stuttgart (SWS) are permitted to build their planned hydrogen production facility in the Stuttgart port in a revised version. The Office for Environmental Protection of the state capital Stuttgart has approved the corresponding amendment application. Previously, the SWS had changed the supplier of the electrolysers.

Creos Deutschland has commenced the construction of the first hydrogen pipeline in the Federal State of Saarland in the West of Germany. The approximately 17-kilometre pipeline between Leidingen and Dillingen is the German part of the French-German cross-border project mosaHYc. The construction period is expected to last around one and a half years.

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Meyer Werft, and Helmut-Schmidt-University are developing a metal hydride-based hydrogen storage system for large passenger ships in the H2MASS project. The onboard system is intended to deliver a target output of 4 MW during port operations and cover the hotel load emission-free.
