Safe refilling of hydrogen tanks

Filling and emptying large tanks for hydrogen transportation is a highly complex process. To ensure these activities are safe, they have to be carried out within permitted pressure and temperature windows. A global energy corporation undertook analyses and thermodynamic modeling for its vessels and asked the fuel cell technology center ZBT to validate the results in a series of physical tests.

Call ITZ Duisburg “TrHy”

The center for fuel cell technology in Duisburg (Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik Duisburg, ZBT) used Hannover Messe as a platform to announce the name of the new ITZ center (Innovations- und Technologiezentrum für Wasserstoff, see H2-international Feb. 2022) planned for location in Nordrhein-Westfalen: TrHy. For the time being, Joachim Jungsbluth, head of fuel cell testing at the ZBT, stands ready in a three-member team as the contact point.

New ZBT director

Since October 1st, 2021, the center for fuel cell technology in Duisburg, Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik Duisburg (ZBT), has had a new science director. Dr. Harry Hoster also took over as Chair of Energy Technology at Universität Duisburg-Essen, succeeding Dr. Angelika Heinzel, who had retired end of 2020 (see H2-international Feb. 2021).
