The latest PEM fuel cell test station from Horiba is primarily intended for laboratories looking for an entry-level solution with a good price-performance ratio – for example, at universities or engineering offices. The station, named C05-LT, is a compact benchtop solution. It is suitable for single cells and cell stacks up to 100 W. Possible applications include performance testing of PEM fuel cells, studies on durability and service life, development of catalysts and membranes, gas and water management, system optimization and electrochemical characterization.
The software is designed according to the “plug and play” principle, allowing reliable testing even without programming knowledge. The “TestWork” test sequence configuration is intended to assist with this. It allows individual adjustment of flow rates and loads, and pressure and temperature are also precisely controlled, according to Horiba.
The manufacturer also emphasizes the high accuracy and repeatability of the tests. Many important functions are integrated as standard. These include manual backpressure control, fill level detection and automatic refilling of the humidifier, as well as the ability to measure hydrogen crossover. Safety checks and automatic purging processes are intended to ensure stable, semi-autonomous test operation. If needed, Horiba’s support team is available, offering worldwide services for calibration, maintenance and maximum system performance.
