Hamburg brings H2 supply and demand together on a common platform

The Renewable Energies Hamburg (EEHH) industry network, together with the Berlin IT company Localiser RLI, has developed a digital hydrogen marketplace for the Hamburg metropolitan region. The platform functions as a search-and-offer portal and is open not only to the cluster's over 300 member companies but also to external players from industry and the energy sector. Registration and use are free of charge.

Georeferenced representation and mutual validation

Users can view existing offers, make contact, or create their own entries. All projects and relevant infrastructure, such as distribution networks, are displayed georeferenced, allowing for location-specific searches. Instead of central verification, registered participants validate each other. Additionally, the platform generates automated matchmaking suggestions based on individual needs.

Localiser RLI operates marketplaces in 13 European countries

According to its own information, Localiser RLI already has experience with similar platforms. The company, founded in Berlin in 2018, published the first digital hydrogen marketplace in 2022 in collaboration with the states of Berlin and Brandenburg. The tool is now said to be available in 13 European countries. In early 2025, the MatcH2 platform went online for Switzerland.

“With the digital marketplace, we close the gaps in the value chain and finally bring supply and demand together on a common platform,” explains Hamburg's Senator for Economic Affairs, Melanie Leonhard. “Anyone who wants to produce, transport, or apply can find the direct link to the right partner here.”

EEHH Managing Director Jan Rispens says: “With the hydrogen marketplace, we provide our members and other interested companies at home and abroad with a practical tool that significantly simplifies matchmaking and the distribution of hydrogen and hydrogen-related products and services in the metropolitan region."
