Hydrogen production

Thyssenkrupp Nucera begins front-end engineering for 600 MW electrolysis project in Europe

The client, who remains unnamed for the time being, intends to use the hydrogen produced to supply industrial customers in the heavy industry sector, thereby reducing CO₂ emissions.

Thyssenkrupp Nucera plans to further develop the project in close cooperation with the client. The next step is to conclude an EPF contract (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication). According to the press release, a final investment decision (FID) could be made in 2026.

If implemented, this would be the third major hydrogen project in the region using technology from Thyssenkrupp Nucera. The company is currently executing a 200 MW plant for Shell in Rotterdam and a 740 MW facility for Stegra, intended to supply a green steel plant.

Thyssenkrupp Nucera specializes in electrolysis technologies and, according to its own figures, has installed more than 600 projects with a total capacity exceeding 10 gigawatts.
