The Norwegian company Fuella AS has commissioned Thyssenkrupp Uhde with the pre-FEED phase for two major projects to produce green ammonia in Brazil. The PeGA projects in Pecém and AçuGA in Açu each envisage an annual production of 400,000 tons of ammonia, which is to be produced entirely based on renewable energies.
In the pre-FEED phase, the focus is on optimizing the technical concept. In addition, important engineering activities are to be further developed and the business case elaborated. The basis is the Uhde ammonia synthesis technology, which according to the company is specially designed for dynamic operation with renewable energies.

Thyssenkrupp Uhde also takes on the integration engineering for the entire plant. This includes the electrolysis systems, the balance-of-plant facilities, and the infrastructure for ammonia loading. The company's own RHAMFS methodology is used for concept optimization.
For Fuella, these two projects are the first in Brazil. "We are proud to advance these two pioneering projects for green ammonia in Brazil together with Fuella," says Nadja Håkansson, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Uhde and COO of Thyssenkrupp Decarbon Technologies.
Thorsten Helms, Managing Director of Fuella AS, emphasizes the choice of partner: "Thyssenkrupp Uhde convinced us not only with its technical leadership but also with its knowledge of local conditions and willingness to enter into a true partnership with us on these promising projects."
Fuella was founded in 2020 and, according to its own statements, develops, builds, and operates plants for green hydrogen and green ammonia. This also includes what the company claims to be the first large-scale plant for green ammonia in Europe.
