Cummins commissions Stargate Hydrogen with spare parts supply for HyStat fleet

Stargate Hydrogen has signed an agreement with Cummins, becoming the authorised aftermarket supplier for the alkaline electrolysers of the HyStat series. The Estonian company announced this on October 19, 2026. Stargate Hydrogen will manufacture and supply replacement stacks and related services for over 400 installed systems. According to the company, these include more than 1,000 stacks in 65 countries.

The HyStat platform is thus one of the largest fleets of alkaline electrolysers worldwide. By taking over the aftermarket business, Stargate Hydrogen significantly expands its customer base. The company also gains access to established hydrogen markets and internationally operating industrial gas companies that operate hydrogen production systems.

From technology developer to supplier

Stargate Hydrogen was founded in 2021 and has since focused its manufacturing capacities on large-scale hydrogen production. The takeover of the service business for the HyStat fleet marks, according to the company, the transition from technology development to industrial application. Due to recurring demand for replacement stacks, the company expects a more stable revenue base. At the same time, new marketing opportunities for its own electrolysis technologies are expected to arise.

Background on the companies

Stargate Hydrogen develops alkaline electrolysers that do not require precious metals. According to the company, target markets are energy-intensive industries that want to switch from grey to green hydrogen. These include refineries and the production of ammonia, methanol, e-methane, and steel. Investors in the company include Repsol. Stargate Hydrogen names Fortum, Utilitas, ABB, and Rockfin among its customers, as well as other buyers in Europe, Turkey, and India.

Cummins, on the other hand, is a globally active manufacturer of engines, drive systems, and components. Through its Accelera brand, the group develops emission-free solutions, including battery systems, electric drivetrains, and fuel cells. Cummins originally acquired the HyStat electrolyser business through the takeover of Hydrogenics in 2019. With the newly signed agreement, the company is handing over the aftermarket business for this series to Stargate Hydrogen.
