Welcome at the HIAT!
As an application-oriented operating non-profit research organisation the HIAT institute works with special focus on the research and development of fuel cell/ electrolysis cells and its core components. Since its inception, the institute was able to become know in the industry due to its consistent development activities. Several patents have already been developed and their content has successfully been marketed. The HIAT meets the current quest for a sustainable energy supply. A focus of recent work on HIAT is the development of cost-effective electrolysis cells or systems which decompose water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen with the help of electric power from renewable energy sources. Especially with regard to the introduced »Energiewende« efficient solutions for energy storage have a fundamental importance for the future energy supply and discharge of the networks.
